What are rental books?

"Rental books" are additional copies of popular titles, purchased by the Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library to support the Library's collection of free loan materials.  The rental charge for rental books is $0.25 per day with a 14 day checkout.  Users are welcome to return the item early and will only be charged for the days used. A late fee of $0.25 per day will be charged if the book is returned after 14 days. The item is not renewable.

Borrowing from the Thousand Oaks Library is free.  The rental collection is a self supporting collection, providing additional availability of very popular titles to statistisfy demand when popular titles have multiple holds.

  1. I've never heard of a rental fee at a library in MY LIFE. This is unheard of and should be FULLY clarified when you obtain a library card. I'd rather just buy a book
