What are Hold Lockers?

The Hold Lockers are a self-service system, offering 24/7 contact-free access to pick up library materials.

Where are the Hold Lockers Located and when can I use them?

The Hold Lockers are located outside of the Newbury Park Library to the left of the main entrance. To pick up your items, follow the instructions on the touchscreen.

Who can use this service?

Any patron with a valid Thousand Oaks Library card can use the Hold Lockers. Choose one of the “Lockers” locations as your pick-up when you are placing a hold.

How long will my items be on hold if I use the Hold Lockers? Will I lose my hold items if I don’t pick them up in time?

To ensure that all patrons have equal access to the Hold Lockers, all Hold Locker requests will be held for seven days. If the items are not picked up within seven days, your hold request will expire, and you will need to place it again.

There are three items in my locker, but I only want two for now. Can I pick which items to take?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to choose which items to take. Once you open the locker with your items, they will all be checked out to your account automatically. Please be sure to take all of the items inside the locker. If you no longer want an item, please place it in one of the return bins, or bring it inside to the Circulation Desk.

I can’t reach very high or low places. How can I still use the Remote Lockers to get my items?

If you need to have a locker you can reach easily, please select one of the Lockers - Accessible locations for your pick-up.

I can’t check out my items at the Hold Lockers. How do I get help?

Various reasons may prevent items from checking out at the lockers, such as unpaid bills or fees in excess of $20.00, an expired account, too many items checked out to your card currently, or other system blocks. Please e-mail us at asktolnow@tolibrary.libanswer.com, or call us at 805-449-2660 option 3 for help. We'll respond during Library hours.

I placed my hold request a little while ago and asked that it be sent to the Hold Locker, but I didn’t get a pick up notice. Can I check on the status of my hold request?

Certainly. You can log in to My Account to check on your hold status. Please e-mail us at asktolnow@tolibrary.libanswer.com, or call us at 805-449-2660 option 4 for further assistance. We'll respond during Library hours.

How do I return my materials?

Both Libraries have drive-up return bins which can accept materials from both Grant R. Brimhall Library and Newbury Park Library. You can also return materials in one of the walk-up return bins. If you need the item(s) returned so that you can clear your account to check out more items, or if the item has a "Return to Circulation Desk" sticker on it, please return inside either library, at the Circulation Desk.
