Q. What are the Library App device requirements to use self-checkout?

To check out library materials through our app when you visit the library, your smartphone must meet the following requirements: 

• Active Wi-Fi or data connection.

• Location services enabled.
  • Apple: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security>Location Services. Make sure that Location Services is On.
  • Android: Go to Settings > Location and move the slider to On.


• NFC compatibility. Please note that NFC is only offered on smartphones.
  • Apple: Currently there is no setting to turn NFC on/off on an iPhone. The iPhone’s NFC function is enabled or disabled by the apps that require it.
  • Android: Go to Settings. Search for NFC and turn it On. If you can’t find NFC, your device does not have it.
