If identifying information is available on the found item, our staff will attempt to contact the owner.

Claimants will be asked to identify the item in detail prior to release. For valuable items, staff may also ask for photo identification to confirm claimant’s identity prior to release.

Items lost in the Park:  Conejo Creek North found items are sometimes turned in to the library, so please feel free to contact us with items you may have lost while visiting the park.  However, as these items may more often have been turned in to Park Staff, you may want to contact the Conejo Parks and Recreation District (CRPD) at https://www.crpd.org/about-us/contact-us/

Books returned to the wrong library system:  we recommend that patrons pick up mis-returned books and return them directly to the owning library system to avoid fines or fees from the owning library. The Library is not responsible for items returned in error, but will try to return items belonging to other library systems if possible, per current Circulation procedures. For books that cannot be returned because they do not have owner, Library or school labeling, they will be held at the Circulation Desk for 30 days.

All other found items will be held for 60 days. Unclaimed items will be, as appropriate, put up for sale, donated to a charitable organization, or disposed of/recycled after 60 days.

Food items and items deemed potentially hazardous or verminous are subject to being discarded either immediately or by the end of the day (depending upon the item and its condition) due to health and safety concerns.
