The Thousand Oaks Library has the Conejo News, Thousand Oaks News Chronicle, and Thousand Oaks Star on microfilm. To view the microfilm, you can come to the Adult Reference desk and request a reel by date.  The Conejo News microfilm covers July 5, 1957 to September 1965. The News Chronicle microfilm covers January 1966 to November 22, 1994 (ending with the Thousand Oaks Star).

There is a Local News Index which can be searched to find the date of news articles by name or keyword, it begins in 1982. Information from the Index can be used to know which reels of microfilm to request from the desk.

In addition, we now have several digital newspaper resources, these are listed on our Virtual Library, Magazines & Newspapers page. Some of these are current resources, but the following titles also have historic newspapers.

  • California Historical Newspaper Collections
  • Los Angeles Times
  • Thousand Oaks Historic Newspapers from Newspapers.com *only available onsite
  • Thousand Oaks Star
  • Proquest Historical Newspapers

In addition you may want to see the website for the California Digital Newspaper Collection, which has a number of early California newspapers. (Note - this site may be slow to load, please be patient.)
