Does my Virtual Library Card Expire?

How long does my temporary card / digital card / virtual card stay active?

Will my online card expire?

My virtual card stopped working.

Answer

Digital Cards

We’re excited to continue offering you access to all the great resources our library has to offer! We’d like to inform you of a small but important change regarding digital cards. (These may also be known as "Virtual Cards" or "Temporary Cards" or "Online Accounts")

What’s Changing?

Starting on May 1, 2025, digital cards (with 7 digits) will expire after three months.
To ensure uninterrupted access, we encourage you to stop by either the Grant R. Brimhall Library or the Newbury Park Library and convert your digital card to a physical card. It’s quick and easy, and it will help you keep enjoying everything our library has to offer!

How to Convert Your Card
When you visit us, you’ll need to verify your current address. You can do this with your California Driver License. If your license does not reflect your current address, please bring an additional document—such as a recent utility bill or bank statement—that includes your name, current address, and is dated within the past 60 days. For a complete list of acceptable proof of address, please visit Borrower Services.

Why Make the Switch?

By switching to a physical card, you’ll maintain uninterrupted access to our digital collection and gain the added benefits of being a full library member. This includes the ability to check out physical materials, giving you even more ways to enjoy our library!

We look forward to seeing you in person and assisting with your card conversion. If you have any questions or need help, please don’t hesitate to contact us at (805) 449-2660, Option 3.

Thank you for being a valued member of our library community!

Warm regards,

Thousand Oaks Library
