I have been told that I have items overdue, but I'm certain I returned the items. What is the next step?

I received a renewal notice for a book I returned already, how do I get that off my account?

Answer

Please call the Circulation Department at (805) 449-2660, option 3 during business hours, or send an email to Ask-a-Librarian. Circulation staff will be happy to assist you with this issue.

Please understand that notices are sent automatically, so they may cross paths with returning items.  If you think a notice may be an error, please log in to "My Account" and check to see if the item is still checked out to you.

If you find the item(s) still on your account, contact us to initiate a formal search for the items in question. Once a Claims Returned search has been initiated, Library staff will then search the shelves multiple times for the items during a four-week search at both the Grant R. Brimhall Library and the Newbury Park Branch Library.

The Library recommends that the customer continue to look for the items at their home, office, or anywhere else the items may have been, such as under a vehicle's seats.

If the items are found, they are checked in and any fees are waived.
