How long does it take to get a hold transferred between the libraries?

If I place a hold, how many days will it take to arrive?

Answer

If you place a hold on an item and request that it be transferred to the other library location for delivery it may take several days to arrive.  Please do not rely on a set number of days, but instead check your email, text messages, or voice mail for a notification.  You may also log in to My Account to see the status of your hold.

As of August 31, 2022 the number of transfers between Thousand Oaks Library and Newbury Park Library has been reduced to twice per week, on Mondays and Thursdays. This change will be temporary, but we do not have an end date at this time.

If you need an item more quickly, you may want to opt for placing a hold to be picked up at the owning branch of the library, rather than having it transferred.  See "Pickup Location" in the Help page for Holds for more information on the process.

If you would like to change the manner in which your notification is received, please see our Help page to Modify Account Information.
